Raisel Iglesias slammed the door on the Diamondbacks on Sunday, working a scoreless ninth inning to earn his seventh save of the season.

Jun 04   8:19 PM

Iglesias was unexpectedly thrust into action after Eddie Rosario blasted a go-ahead grand slam with two outs in the top half of the ninth inning. Iglesias then came on and issued a leadoff walk to Ketel Marte, but got Corbin Carroll to ground into a double play before getting Christian Walker on a bouncer to third base to end the game. On the season, the 33-year-old hurler now holds a 3.09 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and an 11/6 K/BB ratio across his first 11 2/3 innings.

Josh Lester went 1-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs on Sunday as the Orioles defeated the Giants.

Jun 04   7:59 PM

Lester smacked a two-run single off of Anthony DeSclafani to cap off a six-run rally in the third inning. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the afternoon. The 28-year-old slugger started at third base in this one, and could see additional action there if Gunnar Henderson is forced to miss another couple of games.

James McCann blasted a solo home run, walked and scored twice on Sunday afternoon, helping to propel the Orioles to an 8-3 victory over the Giants in San Francsico.

Jun 04   7:59 PM

McCann jumped on the first pitch that he saw from Jakob Junis in the sixth inning -- connecting on a 418-foot (103.9 mph EV) to increase the Orioles' lead to 7-0. He also started the O's six-run uprising in the third inning with a leadoff walk before coming around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Adam Frazier. The 32-year-old backstop has had a rough go of things in his first season with the Orioles -- slashing a putrid .195/.244/.364 with three homers and six RBI.

Anthony DeSclafani was hit hard in Sunday afternoon's loss to the Orioles, giving up six runs (five earned) on five hits over his three innings of work.

Jun 04   7:41 PM

The right-hander walked three and struck out two on the afternoon. All of the damage done against him came during a six-run uprising in the third inning, which included four hits, a hit batsmen, three walks, a sacrifice fly and an error. DeSclafani got just four swings and misses on 68 pitches in the ballgame, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He'll look to put this one behind him as he carries a 3.97 ERA and 1.12 WHIP into Friday's matchup against the Cubs.

Michael A. Taylor went 3-for-3 and stole two bases against the Guardians on Sunday.

Jun 04   7:41 PM

It's pretty impressive going 3-for-3 in a game in which the rest of the lineup went 2-for-29. Even the other team finished 3-for-28. Of course, being that no one else on the Twins did much, Taylor had no runs scored or RBI. He's batting .224/.276/.401 in 164 plate appearances.

Joe Ryan surrendered two runs in 6 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Guardians.

Jun 04   7:41 PM

A terrific performance finished in a very frustrating way for Ryan. He faced the minimum through 6 2/3 innings before walking José Ramírez and giving up an RBI double to Josh Naylor. Caleb Thielbar took over then and gave up a triple to Andrés Giménez. In a low-scoring game, it was enough to get Ryan tagged with his third loss of the year.

Emmanuel Clase earned his second save in two days with a scoreless ninth Sunday against the Twins.

Jun 04   7:41 PM

Clase allowed a walk and a hit before striking out Willy Castro to end the game. The Guardians are off Monday, so they won't need to worry about who is closing then with Clase in need of a rest.

Andrés Giménez tripled in Josh Naylor in the sixth to help propel the Guardians to a 2-1 win over the Twins on Sunday.

Jun 04   7:41 PM

The Guardians had just three hits in the game, but two of them immediately followed a walk in the seventh. Giménez's triple off Caleb Thielbar was a 398-foot fly to right center that would have been a homer in the majority of ballparks. Giménez has really struggled to hit the ball with authority this season, but he also had a pretty impressive double Saturday off Sonny Gray. Maybe it's nothing, but four of his 10 hardest-hit balls of the season have come in the last week.

Blake Sabol went 1-for-4 and clobbered a two-run homer in a losing effort against the Orioles on Sunday afternoon.

Jun 04   7:41 PM

Sabol connected on a mammoth 426-foot (104.2 mph) two-run blast off of Tyler Wells in the sixth inning that got the Giants on the board. He also struck out twice in the contest. Sabol has done a nice job for the Giants this season -- slashing .254/.318/.442 to go with seven long balls and 18 RBI in 151 plaet appearances.

Jorge Mateo went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and a stolen base as the Orioles triumphed over the Giants on Sunday afternoon in San Francsico.

Jun 04   7:41 PM

Mateo smacked a double off of Anthony DeSclafani and scored on an RBI single by Austin Hays during a six-run rampage in the third inning. He also singled with two outs in the eighth inning and swiped second base, but wound up stranded there. Mateo has cooled considerably after his blistering hot start to the season, as he's now hitting a meager .234/.276/.389 with six homers, 24 RBI and 16 stolen bases on the season.

Matthew Boyd fanned nine while throwing five innings of one-run ball Sunday against the White Sox.

Jun 04   7:13 PM

We expected to see more of this after the way Boyd looked in the Grapefruit League, but Boyd has a 5.57 ERA after 11 starts. He had some extra spin and movement on his slider today, which is a big key for him. Of course, he has some more work to do before again becoming an option in fantasy leagues.

After coming into a tie game in the ninth, Alex Lange gave up a game-winning grand slam against the White Sox on Sunday.

Jun 04   7:13 PM

A sac fly would have done the job in a 2-2 game, but Jake Burger just had to go and launch one over the fence, taking Lange's ERA with it. The Tigers closer had allowed just three runs in 24 1/3 innings this season. Now he's given up seven after retiring just one of the five batters he faced today.

Liam Hendriks got a win Sunday after pitching a scoreless top of the ninth against the Tigers.

Jun 04   7:13 PM

Hendriks struck out two. He averaged 96.3 mph with his fastball today, which is little step up from 95.6 mph in his first two appearances. If he keeps building that up, he should be back in the closer's role before too long.

Michael Kopech yielded two runs in seven innings and struck out nine versus the Tigers on Sunday.

Jun 04   7:13 PM

Kopech allowed just three hits, but one of those was a homer that immediately followed a single. Still, this is Kopech's third exceptional showing in his last four starts. There's little telling how long it will last, but with the way he's throwing strikes and missing bats, he's worth using in mixed leagues right now.

Mike Mayers is once again expected to function in a bulk inning role behind opener Carlos Hernandez on Monday against the Marlins in Miami.

Jun 04   7:13 PM

The 31-year-old hurler has done as nice job so far for the Royals this season -- registering a 1.35 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 14/5 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings of work. In the deepest of mixed leagues, he's probably worth a look as a streaming option -- though his chances of recording a win are certainly hurt by pitching for a Royals' team that will enter play on Monday at 18-41.

Shohei Ohtani doubled in Zach Neto in the top of the eighth Sunday in the Angels' 2-1 defeat of the Astros.

Jun 04   6:28 PM

Ohtani came up a little short of a homer on the drive down the right field line, but it was enough to score Neto from first. The Angels announced after the game that Ohtani's next start on the mound would be pushed back one day, meaning he'll face the Mariners on Friday instead of the Cubs on Thursday.

Yainer Diaz homered and doubled for the Astros' only extra-base hits in the loss to the Angels on Sunday.

Jun 04   6:28 PM

The homer accounted for the team's only run. Diaz started at first base today for just the second time this season. It'd be interesting to see what he could do if the Astros started working him in more often. They're carrying César Salazar as a third catcher, so they have the flexibility to use Diaz at DH or first base whenever they'd like.

J.P. France was denied a win after holding the Angels to one run in seven innings on Sunday.

Jun 04   6:28 PM

The seven innings are a new high for France, and it's the fourth time in six starts that he has allowed one or no earned runs. His stuff is unremarkable, and he's given up a fair amount of hard contact, but he'll remain an option in mixed leagues for as long as he's in Houston's rotation. He has favorable matchup against the Guardians coming up.

Carlos Estévez recorded a four-out save against the Astros on Sunday.

Jun 04   6:28 PM

Estévez retired Alex Bregman to end the eighth. He walked a batter with one out in the ninth, but he then got a double play to end the game. It's the second time this year that Estévez has been asked to throw more than just one inning, and both have turned out fine. He has 14 saves and a 1.42 ERA through 25 appearances.

Griffin Canning allowed one run through six innings Sunday against the Astros.

Jun 04   6:28 PM

Canning wasn't involved in the decision, as the Angels didn't go ahead until the eighth. Still, it's a third straight quality start for him. He's lowered his ERA from 6.14 to 4.47 during the stretch. He'll face the Mariners next time out.
