Casey Legumina (ankle) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Louisville.

Jun 06   11:38 AM

Legumina has been an effective middle reliever this season for the Reds in his major league debut and should return sometime in the next week or two. He's been sidelined since mid-May after suffering a right ankle contusion when he was hit by a comebacker.

Dylan Carlson (ankle) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Memphis.

Jun 06   10:12 AM

Carlson figures to be ready to return to the Cardinals' lineup sometime later this week after a couple rehab contests. The 24-year-old outfielder has been on the shelf since mid-May due to a left ankle sprain.

Tejay Antone (forearm) has resumed a throwing program.

Jun 06   10:12 AM

Antone landed on the injured list back in spring training as he continues to work his way back from a right forearm flexor strain that he suffered while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. He's likely still several months away from returning to Cincinnati's relief mix, but it sounds like there's a chance he'll pitch in the majors later this season.

Michael Tonkin (neck) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Jun 06   10:12 AM

Tonkin landed on the injured list back in late May with a neck strain and shouldn't need more than a handful of rehab outings before he's ready to return to Atlanta's bullpen mix in a middle relief role.

Braves sent LHP Lucas Luetge outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Jun 06   10:12 AM

Luetge was jettisoned from Atlanta's 40-man roster last week and wound up going unclaimed on waivers. The 36-year-old lefty reliever has been excellent over the last two years for the Yankees, but struggled mightily this season in nine appearances in his Braves debut. He'll presumably remain at Triple-A Gwinnett as extra organizational relief depth.

Giants optioned OF Bryce Johnson to Triple-A Sacramento.

Jun 06   9:32 AM

Johnson has been sent back to the minors to make room for veteran slugger Joc Pederson to return ahead of Tuesday's contest against the Rockies. The 27-year-old speedy outfielder has batted .175 (7-for-40) with one homer and one stolen base across 25 games this season in the big leagues.

Guardians activated 1B Josh Bell from the paternity leave list.

Jun 06   9:32 AM

Bell will return to Cleveland's lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the Red Sox following a brief absence since last Friday on paternity leave. The switch-hitting is batting .225/.329/.348 with just four homers and 26 RBI across 219 plate appearances this season in his Guardians debut. Obviously, fantasy managers are hoping dad strength enables him to tap into some additional over-the-fence pop moving forward.

Guardians optioned INF Brayan Rocchio to Triple-A Columbus.

Jun 06   9:32 AM

Rocchio has been jettisoned to the minors ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Red Sox with veteran slugger Josh Bell back from paternity leave. The 22-year-old top prospect has three hits in 14 at-bats over four games this season in the big leagues.

Giants signed SS Michael Wielansky to a minor league contract.

Jun 06   9:32 AM

Wielansky is getting another shot in affiliated ball after batting .320/.400/.660 with eight homers and three steals in just 25 games this season for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the independent Atlantic League. The 26-year-old middle infielder was an 18th-round selection of the Astros back in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Phillies released OF Garrett Whitley.

Jun 06   9:32 AM

Whitley signed a minor league contract with the Phillies last December and wound up being released after slashing .161/.226/.232 with one homer and one steal across 15 games this season for Double-A Reading. The 26-year-old former first-round selection has yet to reach the majors after being drafted back in 2015 and the odds of him ever reaching the big leagues appear extremely slim at this point.

Cody Bellinger (knee) has resumed taking batting practice.

Jun 06   9:32 AM

Bellinger has also progressed to running and taking part in agility work. It's unclear whether he'll require a minor league rehab assignment as he continues working his way back from a left knee contusion that sent him to the injured list back in mid-May.

Red Sox optioned RHP Kaleb Ort to Triple-A Worcester.

Jun 06   7:55 AM

Ort was up briefly for the Red Sox over the weekend and wound up throwing a scoreless inning on Monday against the Rays. He's been sent back to the minors to free up a roster spot for Chris Murphy to come up ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Guardians. The 31-year-old righty has struggled this season in a middle relief role and might be nearing the end of his run in Boston.

Andruw Monasterio went 0-for-3 with a walk on Monday in his return to the Brewers' lineup.

Jun 06   7:39 AM

Monasterio didn't wind up missing any action after being lifted from Sunday's contest against the Reds when he was struck in the head on a pickoff tag at second base. The 25-year-old infielder has been impressive so far in his first cup of coffee in the majors, batting .350 (7-for-20) with one homer, three RBI and one stolen base across seven games.

Luis Urías went 0-for-3 with a walk on Monday in his return to the Brewers' lineup.

Jun 06   7:39 AM

He's expected to serve as the Brewers' starting third baseman moving forward.

Leody Taveras went 0-for-4 with an RBI on Monday in his return to the Rangers' lineup.

Jun 06   7:39 AM

Taveras wound up missing just Sunday's contest over the weekend after suffering a right knee contusion during Saturday's game against the Mariners. The 24-year-old former top prospect has emerged as an everyday player this season for the Rangers and it's a positive development that he's managed to avoid a serious injury.

Rougned Odor went 0-for-4 on Monday in his return to the Padres' lineup.

Jun 06   7:39 AM

Odor went hitless in four at-bats before being lifted for a pinch-runner in the seventh inning after reaching base on a fielder's choice. The 29-year-old infielder is going to attempt to play through a left groin strain that he suffered last Friday and should avoid a trip to the injured list.

John Brebbia will serve as the Giants' opener on Tuesday against the Rockies.

Jun 06   7:39 AM

Brebbia will take the ball to kick off a the Giants' bullpen game at Coors Field during Tuesday's series opener against the Rockies. He'll likely be followed by either Tristan Beck or Sean Manaea in this one. Regardless of the decisions made here, fantasy managers should steer clear of this matchup altogether on Tuesday evening.

Wander Franco went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk on Monday in his return to the Rays' lineup.

Jun 06   7:16 AM

Franco was back atop Tampa Bay's lineup for Monday's series finale at Fenway Park on Monday evening following a two-game absence due to some mild left hamstring soreness. He's been dealing with some minor physical issues the past few weeks, but has managed to avoid a trip to the injured list, and has remained extremely production from a fantasy perspective. The 22-year-old shortstop has blossomed into an elite fantasy contributor and might wind up being a first-round selection in drafts next spring, if he keeps this going.

With the three-hit attack, Machado is now slashing .234/.285/.368 to go along with five homers, 19 RBI and two stolen bases through his first 44 games on the season.
