Espinal rejoins Toronto's infield mix following a two-week absence due to right hamstring inflammation.

Blue Jays selected the contract of RHP Bowden Francis from Triple-A Buffalo.

Jun 06   3:41 PM

Jun 06   3:41 PM

Bassitt is back from paternity leave and will make his next scheduled start on Wednesday against the Astros.

Julio Urías (hamstring) threw a two-inning simulated game on Tuesday.

Jun 06   3:41 PM

Urías has progressed to facing hitters and is expected to be activated from the injured list later this week to return to the Dodgers' starting rotation. There should be an official update from manager Dave Roberts at some point in the coming days, but fantasy managers should expect the 26-year-old southpaw back relatively soon.

Enrique Hernández is at shortstop and batting sixth for Tuesday's series opener against the Guardians.

Jun 06   3:17 PM

Apparently, defense doesn't really matter for Boston. Hernández has graded out as one of the worst defenders at shortstop in the majors this season, but the Red Sox are going to continue playing him there. It's perplexing.

Reds sent RHP Frank German outright to Triple-A Louisville.

Jun 06   3:01 PM

German went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will remain with the Reds as organizational relief depth. The 25-year-old righty has yet to make an appearance in the majors this season after making five relief outings last year for the Red Sox.

Matt Manning (foot) progressed to facing hitters on Tuesday in a two-inning simulated game.

Jun 06   3:01 PM

Manning appears to be on the precipice of heading out on a minor league rehab assignment and remains on track to return to Detroit's starting rotation mix sometime before the end of June. The 25-year-old righty has been on the shelf since early April after suffering a fractured right foot when he was hit by a comebacker.

Athletics optioned INF Nick Allen to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Jun 06   3:01 PM

Allen heads back to the minors after batting just .196/.241/.235 with one homer and three RBI across 111 plate appearances over 38 games this season.

Athletics recalled INF Kevin Smith from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Jun 06   3:01 PM

Smith rejoins Oakland's infield mix ahead of Tuesday's contest against the Pirates. The 26-year-old former top prospect has posted strong numbers this season at Triple-A Las Vegas, but has just batted just .184 (14-for-76) with three homers and one steal in 26 games at the big league level.

Elly De La Cruz is at third base and batting cleanup on Tuesday in his major league debut against the Dodgers.

Jun 06   3:01 PM

It'll be fellow rookie Matt McLain at shortstop in this one. The expectation is that De La Cruz will spend time at both the hot corner and shortstop initially as he acclimates to life in the majors. He projects as Cincinnati's shortstop of the future, but will get some time at third base temporarily while Nick Senzel (knee) is on the injured list. The 21-year-old electrifying top prospect is one of the more exciting athletes to reach the majors in recent years and figures to make an immediate five-category impact for fantasy managers.

Orioles activated LHP Danny Coulombe from the bereavement leave list.

Jun 06   2:36 PM

Coulombe has turned out to be quite the find for Baltimore's front office, posting a sparkling 2.08 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 31/5 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings (26 appearances) this season in his Orioles debut. The 33-year-old veteran southpaw will be available out of the bullpen for Tuesday's series opener against the Brewers.

Cody Morris (shoulder) will make a minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Triple-A Columbus.

Jun 06   2:20 PM

Morris will make his fourth minor league rehab appearance on Tuesday and is being built up to handle at least three innings before the Guardians decide to bring him back to the majors. The 26-year-old righty has been out since spring training recovering from a teres major strain in his right shoulder. He should be ready to return at some point this month.

Nationals designated RHP Andrés Machado for assignment.

Jun 06   2:20 PM

Machado has allowed struggled to an inflated 8.47 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 12/5 K/BB ratio across 17 innings (14 appearances) this season in the majors. The 30-year-old righty figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and will have the option to elect free agency or accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Rochester.

Nationals recalled RHP Jordan Weems from Triple-A Rochester.

Jun 06   2:20 PM

Weems has tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings over a pair of relief appearances this season for the Nationals and will available in relief for Tuesday's series opener against the Diamondbacks. He figures to operate in middle relief situations.

Orioles optioned INF/OF Terrin Vavra to Triple-A Norfolk.

Jun 06   2:20 PM

Vavra has hit just .245/.315/.245 with five RBI and one stolen base across 56 plate appearances in 27 games this season at the big league level in a reserve role for the Orioles. The added defensive versatility helps, but there really isn't a spot for him in Baltimore at the moment.

Reds placed INF/OF Nick Senzel on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 4, with right knee soreness.

Jun 06   1:30 PM

No word yet on exactly how long Senzel will be sidelined, but the Reds have opted to finally promote top prospect Elly De La Cruz to the majors to take his spot on the active roster. It's a bit unclear whether Senzel will have a role with Cincinnati once he's healthy enough to return in a few weeks.

Braves designated INF/OF Nick Solak for assignment.

Jun 06   1:14 PM

Solak appeared in one game this season for the Braves and has spent the majority of the time at Triple-A Gwinnett, batting .256/.358/.415 with six homers and two steals across 190 plate appearances. The 28-year-old offers plenty of defensive versatility and should garner some interest on waivers.

Braves acquired RHP Ben Heller from the Rays for international bonus pool money.

Jun 06   1:14 PM

Heller will report to Triple-A Gwinnett as extra organizational relief depth for Atlanta after being designated for assignment last week by the Rays. The 31-year-old right-hander, who has made 31 relief appearances in the majors -- all of them with the Yankees -- since 2016, has registered a solid 3.95 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 34/8 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (18 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.

Billy Hamilton (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Charlotte.

Jun 06   12:06 PM
