Jose Siri was scratched from Sunday's game with a sore shoulder.
The 27-year-old hurt his shoulder in the final play of Sunday's doubleheader against the Red Sox. The team doesn't expect that the 27-year-old will need a stint on the injured list, but this is a condition to monitor.
Giants placed LHP Alex Wood on the 15-day injured list with a low back strain.
Tristan Beck was promoted in his place. Wood coughed up six runs in his last start on Wednesday, and a sore lower back could have been the cause. The team has not announced how much time the 32-year-old is expected to miss.
Giants recalled RHP Tristan Beck from Triple-A Sacramento.
Beck will take Alex Wood's place on the roster as the veteran deals with a low back strain. He will likely serve as a long-man or middle-relief while he is with the big league club.
Jared Walsh is not in the Angels' starting lineup for Sunday's contest against the Astros/
It appears to be a regular day off for the 29-year-old first baseman. Walsh has struggled since he was activated off the injured list -- hitting .162/.326/.243 with four RBI across 46 plate appearances. Brandon Drury will slide over from second base to cover first while batting third in his absence.
Ross Stripling (back) is feeling better after having a cortisone shot in his SI joint and could face hitters soon.
Stripling told reporters that he has also made tweaks to his delivery and is standing even more upright than before his back strain. He hopes to face batters soon but remains with a timetable to return to the Giants rotation.
Matt Bush (shoulder) is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
Bush has been on the shelf since late April with right rotator cuff tendinitis, and the injury could have been why he had an 8.22 ERA before landing on the injured list. He will likely need a few appearances before returning to the Brewers bullpen.
Amed Rosario (knee) is not in the Guardians' starting lineup for Sunday's contest against the Twins.
Rosario was pulled from Saturday's game with left knee soreness. It appears to be a minor issue, and the team expects that he will not need an IL stint. Tyler Freeman will start at shortstop and bat second in his place.
Anthony Rendon (groin) is expected to return to the Angels lineup on Wednesday.
Angels manager Phil Nevin said the 32-year-old could return on Tuesday, but Wednesday was a more realistic date. Rendon has been on the since May 14 with a left groin strain. Before the injury, he had been hitting .301/.415/.369 with one homer and 20 RBI across 130 plate appearances. Gio Urshela will lose out on full-time playing time when the veteran returns.
Eric Lauer (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
Lauer has been on the shelf since late May with a left shoulder impingement. The 28-year-old lefty struggled to a 5.48 ERA before the injury and will need a few rehab outings before he is ready to return to the Brewers rotation.
Guardians designated RHP Zach Plesac for assignment.
It has been a fall from grace for the 28-year-old after his outstanding 2020 campaign with Cleveland. Since being demoted to the minors in early May, the right-hander posted a dreadful 7.56 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 21/11 K/BB ratio over five appearances.
Guardians optioned RHP Michael Kelly to Triple-A Columbus.
The 30-year-old pitched well during his time with the big league club. Kelly had a 1.61 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 36/13 K/BB ratio over 18 appearances and will serve as bullpen depth for the Guardians.
Tigers recalled RHP Garrett Hill from Triple-A Toledo.
The 27-year-old returns to the Tigers bullpen after a month in Triple-A. While in Toledo, he posted a 4.78 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, and 37/18 K/BB ratio over 26 1/3 innings. He will serve as middle relief help while he is with the Tigers.
Carlos Correa (foot) remained out of the Twins' starting lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Guardians.
It will be the third game in a row that Correa has missed after leaving Thursday's game when he aggravated his plantar fasciitis. The Twins continue to take things day by day, and they don't think he will require a stint on the injured list.
Bryon Buxton (ribs) is not in the Twins' starting lineup for Sunday's showdown against the Guardians.
Buxton will miss his third game in a row after being hit in the ribs by a pitch in Thursday's game against the Guardians. The Twins remain optimistic that he will not require a stint on the injured list, and he could return to Minnesota's lineup Monday when they face the Rays in Tampa Bay.
Jorge Soler is not in the Marlins' starting lineup for Sunday's contest against the A's.
It appears to be a regular day off for the 31-year-old slugger. Garrett Cooper will take his place as the designated hitter, with Yuli Gurriel getting a start at first base. Soler should return to the Marlins' lineup when they face the Royals at home on Monday.
Leody Taveras is not in the Rangers' starting lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Mariners.
It is a regular maintenance day for the 24-year-old center fielder. Taveras, a former top prospect for the Rangers, has blossomed this season -- hitting .306/.360/.452 with three homers and five stolen bases across 173 plate appearances. Travis Jankowski will bat ninth while playing in center in his absence.
J.P. Crawford (knee) is not in the Mariners' starting lineup for Sunday's showdown against the Rangers.
Crawford suffered a bruised knee in the ninth inning of Sunday's blowout loss to the Rangers. Crawford remained hopeful after the game that he would play on Sunday, but the team wanted to give him another day of rest. The 28-year-old is expected to be ready to go when the Mariners face the Padres in San Diego.
José Abreu is not in the Astros' starting lineup Sunday versus the Angels.
It appears to be a scheduled day off for the veteran first baseman. Abreu has disappointed fantasy managers this season, who were hoping for a bounce-back season. The 36-year-old is hitting an atrocious .213/.273/.264 with one homer and 23 RBI across 238 plate appearances. Yainer Diaz will play first base and bat seventh in his place on Sunday.
Hunter Greene will have his start pushed back after experiencing stiffness in his hip.
Reds manager David Bell said there is no major concern over the injury and prospect Andrew Abbott will start in his place on Monday. Greene has been outstanding lately and has a 2.37 ERA and 29 strikeouts over his last nineteen innings. If things go to plan, the 23-year-old will face the Cardinals in St. Louis next Sunday.
Brandon Nimmo is absent from the Met's starting lineup for Sunday's showdown against the Blue Jays.
It appears to be a routine maintenance day for the 30-year-old outfielder, with Tommy Pham patrolling center field, Mark Canha in left field, and Starling Marte in right. Nimmo is hitting .292/.375/.425 with four homers and three stolen bases across 58 games and should return to the Mets lineup Tuesday against the Braves.
