Pirates recalled RHP Yerry De Los Santos from Triple-A Indianapolis.
De Los Santos made 26 relief appearances last year for the Pirates and will be making his season debut when gets into a game. The 25-year-old righty has delivered an underwhelming 5.60 ERA, 2.49 WHIP and 19/13 K/BB ratio across 17 2/3 innings (17 appearances) this season for Triple-A Indianapolis.
Pirates selected the contract of LHP Angel Perdomo from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Perdomo last appeared in the majors for the Brewers during the 2021 season and has compiled a solid 3.18 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 35/16 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings (20 appearances) this season for Triple-A Indianapolis. The 29-year-old southpaw figures to pitch in middle relief for Pittsburgh.
Blue Jays released RHP Drew Hutchison.
Hutchison exercised the opt-out in his minor league contract with the Blue Jays and the club elected to grant him his release rather than add him to their active roster. The 32-year-old journeyman right-hander is merely emergency starting pitching depth at this stage of his career, but should be able to latch on somewhere else rather quickly.
Michael Massey is not in the Royals' lineup for Saturday's contest against the Rockies.
Massey takes a seat on Saturday afternoon with veteran Matt Duffy drawing a rare start at second base. The 25-year-old infielder has been seeing the ball well over the last two weeks, batting .303 (10-for-33) with two homers and one stolen bases over his last 11 games since May 20.
Brewers placed 1B Darin Ruf on the 10-day injured list with a right knee laceration.
Ruf suffered a right knee laceration during Friday's game against the Reds that ultimately wound up requiring stitches. He's going to wind up missing some time, but should be able to return in a few weeks, if not sooner.
Brewers placed OF Tyrone Taylor on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 2, with a right elbow sprain.
Taylor was scratched from Friday's lineup due to soreness in his surgically-repaired right elbow and it sounds like he could potentially require a lengthy absence. Blake Perkins has been summoned from Triple-A Nashville to take his spot on Milwaukee's roster.
Brewers recalled OF Blake Perkins from Triple-A Nashville.
Perkins got into 10 contests earlier this season for the Brewers in his first taste of the majors and has been summoned ahead of Saturday's game against the Reds with outfielder Tyrone Taylor (elbow) landing on the injured list.
Pirates optioned RHP Cody Bolton to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Bolton struggled in his brief exposure to the majors this season, coughing up 11 runs on 15 hits with a 7/9 K/BB ratio across eight innings (five appearances). The 24-year-old righty should get another shot sometime later this summer.
Luke Raley has been scratched from the Rays' lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters Raley felt something in his right side or stomach area, but the club is expecting him to play in the second game of Saturday's twin bill at Fenway Park. There isn't a way to replace him on the roster this close to first pitch, so we'll see if he's ready to go later this evening. It'll be Harold Ramírez at designated hitter in his absence.
Nolan Jones is not in the Rockies' lineup for Saturday's showdown against the Royals.
Jones delivered a key two-run double during Friday's comeback win over the Royals, but will take a seat in favor of Elehuris Montero at first base on Saturday afternoon. The 25-year-old has started seven of nine contests since being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque back in late May and is batting .308 (8-for-26) with one homer and six RBI during that span.
Jake Burger is not in the White Sox' lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.
Burger has been out of the White Sox' lineup for four of their last five games with both Eloy Jiménez and Gavin Sheets eating into at-bats at designated hitter and Yoán Moncada handling third base on a full-time basis. The 27-year-old slugger continues to produce off the bench, but the lack of a clear starting role is starting to erode his appeal for fantasy managers in shallow mixed leagues.
Alex Faedo is dealing with right middle finger tenderness.
It doesn't appear that Faedo is dealing with a nail or blister-related issue and is continuing to undergo treatment. The 27-year-old righty was hit hard for six runs over 4 1/3 innings his last time out on Tuesday against the Rangers, but has emerged as a solid mid-rotation stabilizer this season for the Tigers. He remains lined up to take the ball Monday against the Phillies.
Henry Ramos (hip) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Triple-A Louisville.
Ramos will join teammate Joey Votto at Triple-A Louisville this weekend to kick off rehab assignments. The 31-year-old journeyman outfielder landed on the injured list back in late May with a right hip strain. He's likely to remain stationed in the upper minors once he wraps up his rehab assignment.
Brennan Bernardino will serve as the Red Sox' 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays.
Bernardino has made the cross-state drive from Triple-A Worcester to join the Red Sox at a rain-soaked Fenway Park for Saturday afternoon's twin bill. The 31-year-old southpaw has pitched well in limited chances this season at the big league level, compiling a serviceable 3.38 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 11/4 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings (12 appearances). He'll presumably head back to the minors at the conclusion of the doubleheader.
Enmanuel Valdez is not in the Red Sox' lineup for the opening contest of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays.
Valdez will open the twin bill on the bench with Pablo Reyes getting the nod at the keystone in his place. The 24-year-old rookie infielder has provided a jolt offensively with four homers and a .740 OPS through 29 games since being called up for good in late April, but has also struggled defensively, committing five errors during that span.
Jarren Duran is not in the Red Sox' lineup for the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays.
It'll be newly-extended Rob Refsnyder in center field instead. Duran has really struggled at the plate over the last two weeks, batting .105 (4-for-38) with 17 strikeouts and only two walks over his last 10 games since May 20.
Cooper Criswell will serve as the Rays' 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Criswell gets the call back to the majors from Triple-A Durham with soft-tossing southpaw swingman Josh Fleming heading to the injured list with a left elbow injury. The 26-year-old righty, who holds a lackluster 6.46 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 17/6 K/BB ratio across 15 1/3 innings figures to take the ball at some point during Saturday's twin bill at Fenway Park for a bulk relief appearance.
A.J. Puk (elbow) tossed a scoreless inning on Friday for Double-A Pensacola.
Puk threw 10 pitches (eight strikes) and finished with one strikeout. The 28-year-old lefty closer is expected to pitch again on Saturday for Double-A Pensacola before the Marlins determine whether he's ready to return from the injured list.
David Bednar fired a scoreless ninth inning on Friday against the Cardinals to record his 11th save of the season.
Bednar got the call to protect a two-run margin in the final frame and managed to work around a two-out infield single by Paul DeJong to preserve the Pirates' victory. The 28-year-old righty has been one of the upper-echelon closers in the fantasy landscape this season, converting all 11 of his save opportunities to go along with a microscopic 1.23 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 29/1 K/BB ratio across 22 innings (22 appearances).
Matt Strahm will serve as the Phillies' opener for Saturday's game against the Nationals.
Strahm will take the ball to open Saturday's contest against the Nationals before handing things off to the rest of Philadelphia's bullpen. The 31-year-old southpaw is missing plenty of bats, but has allowed at least one run in three off his last four relief outings since May 23. He holds a solid 3.20 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 52/11 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 frames (15 appearances, seven starts) this year.
