Daulton Varsho went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a loss to the Orioles on Tuesday.

Jun 13   10:34 PM

He smacked a pair of doubles against Dean Kremer and singled off Austin Voth in the eighth. Alejandro Kirk brought him home with a single in the fourth inning. Varsho is heating up, hitting .308/.390/.538 in his last 15 games with three bombs and three stolen bases. On the season, he's at .231/.302/.409, but the catcher eligibility from last year makes Varsho a stellar starter in all leagues.

Ryan O'Hearn went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Jun 13   10:34 PM

O'Hearn walloped a slider 395 feet to stake the Orioles to a 4-1 lead. With Ryan Mountcastle headed to the injured list, O'Hearn looks likely to at least see the strong-side platoon at-bats at first base going forward. He's hitting .319/.368/.623 on the season with five homers and is often hitting in the middle of a strong lineup. He's not a must pick-up, but one can see how he'd create some fantasy value if he keeps hitting.

Adam Frazier went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Baltimore's win over Toronto on Tuesday.

Jun 13   10:34 PM

He hammered a 79.5 MPH Chris Bassitt slider out to right-center field 391 feet. Frazier needed 1241 PAs the last two years to get to eight homers, and has a career high of 10. He's already at eight, despite remaining one of the worst regulars in MLB in Hard Hit%. He's simply barreling more balls than he did in either of the past two years. The homers and steals have made him a surprisingly capable fill-in in shallow leagues, but the batting average has been rough as he's hitting only .236/.300/.410.

Tuesday's scheduled game between the Braves and Tigers in Detroit was postponed due to inclement weather.

Jun 13   9:41 PM

The two teams will meet for a straight doubleheader on Wednesday. Tuesday's scheduled starters -- Spencer Strider and Reese Olson -- will pitch in one half of Wednesday's twin bill.

Joey Wendle was held out of the Marlins' starting lineup for the second straight day on Tuesday due to a left groin strain.

Jun 13   8:51 PM

The good news, is that the injury isn't believed to be serious and Wendle is available off of the Marlins' bench on Tuesday. Jon Berti is once again starting in his place at shortstop against George Kirby and the Mariners on Tuesday evening in Seattle.

Liam Hendriks (elbow) received a cortisone shot on Sunday and is scheduled to receive a platelet-rich plasma injection later this week.

Jun 13   8:29 PM

The right-hander is dealing with a right flexor strain -- similar to an issue that caused him to miss three weeks last summer. There's still no clear timetable for his potential return to the White Sox bullpen, but the club is hopeful that the 34-year-old hurler will be able to return before the All-Star break.

Mets released RHP Tommy Hunter.

Jun 13   8:13 PM

The 36-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment over the weekend. Rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Syracuse, he'll explore what else is available on the open market. Hunter struggled to a 6.85 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 20/5 K/BB ratio over 23 2/3 innings in his 14 appearances with the Mets this season.

Luke Raley is not in the Rays' starting lineup for Tuesday night's contest against the Athletics.

Jun 13   8:13 PM

Once again, Raley finds himself on the bench with a left-hander (Hogan Harris) expected to see the bulk innings work for the Athletics on Tuesday night. The 28-year-old has been terrific for the Rays this season, slashing .265/.351/.585 with 11 homers, 26 RBI and eight stolen bases in 168 plate appearances.

Andrew Painter (elbow) threw a successful 20-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday at the Phillies' spring training complex in Florida.

Jun 13   8:13 PM

He'll repeat the process again on Friday. The 20-year-old hurler is bring brought along slowly after he was shut down in spring training due to a UCL sprain in his right elbow. He'll continue to build back up in intensity and could soon be cleared to face live hitters for the first time.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters that he expects Eloy Jiménez (leg) to return to the starting lineup on Wednesday.

Jun 13   8:13 PM

Grifol also said that Jiménez was "somewhat available" off the bench on Tuesday -- so perhaps we see him get an at-bat in a clutch situation. Fantasy managers can expect to have the 26-year-old slugger back in there for Wednesday night's contest against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Orioles selected the contract of C Mark Kolozsvary from Triple-A Norfolk.

Jun 13   7:54 PM

With Ryan Mountcastle landing on the injured list with vertigo on Tuesday, Kolozsvary will provide a fresh bat off of the bench for at least a day or two. The 27-year-old was hitting just .172/.250/.299 with three homers and nine RBI in 96 plate appearances in the minor leagues this season.

Orioles designated RHP Noah Denoyer for assignment.

Jun 13   7:54 PM

The O's needed to free up a spot on the active roster for Mark Kolozsvary to join the active roster on Tuesday and it looks like Denoyer was the odd-man out this time around. The 25-year-old hurler has posted a disappointing 5.04 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 34/22 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings at Triple-A Norfolk this season. He should pass through waivers without issue.

Marlins optioned RHP Huascar Brazoban to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Jun 13   7:54 PM

The 33-year-old hurler made 28 appearances out of the Marlins' bullpen this season -- posting a 4.01 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 37/18 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings. Archie Bradley was summoned from Triple-A Jacksonville to take his place in the Marlins' bullpen.

Marlins selected the contract of RHP Archie Bradley from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Jun 13   7:54 PM

The 30-year-old hurler returns to the big leagues after registering a stellar 2.95 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and a 16/5 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings in nine appearances at Triple-A Jacksonville. He'll give manager Skip Schumaker another weapon to deploy out of the bullpen.

Marlins transferred LHP Trevor Rogers to the 60-day injured list.

Jun 13   7:54 PM

While this looks ominous given the timing, Rogers is still eligible to return from the injured list next week -- though he is doubtful to be ready then after suffering an injury to his non-throwing shoulder while on a recent minor league rehab assignment. This was done primarily as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team's 40-man roster for Archie Bradley to join the bullpen on Tuesday.

Padres optioned 1B Alfonso Rivas to Triple-A El Paso.

Jun 13   7:54 PM

With Nelson Cruz returning from the injured list on Tuesday, someone needed to get the boot from the active roster and it looks like Rivas pulled the short straw this time. The 26-year-old went just 2-for-7 with a run scored and an RBI during his brief stay with the big league club.

Padres activated DH Nelson Cruz from the 10-day injured list.

Jun 13   7:54 PM

While he's back with the Padres and active for Tuesday's contest against the Guardians, Cruz is not in the team's starting lineup against right-hander Tanner Bibee. Matt Carpenter will function as the team's designated hitter on Tuesday and will bat seventh for the Padres.

Mets sent RHP Stephen Nogosek outright to Triple-A Syracuse.

Jun 13   7:54 PM

The 28-year-old hurler has been designated for assignment over the weekend, but passed through waivers unclaimed and opted to accept an outright assignment to Triple-A. He'll continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Mets.

Phillies optioned RHP Yunior Marte to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Jun 13   6:58 PM

The 28-year-old hurler has pitched better as of late, but still holds a miserable 7.71 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and a 13/8 K/BB ratio across 14 innings with the Phillies this season. Luis Ortiz was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move to take his place in the Phillies' bullpen.

Mets manager Buck Showalter confirmed Tuesday that Tylor Megill will make his next scheduled start on Friday against the Cardinals.

Jun 13   6:58 PM

The Mets had toyed with the idea of skipping the struggling right-hander this time through the rotation, but they'll give him at least one more shot before doing so. He has surrendered 22 runs (16 earned) over 16 2/3 innings over his last four starts. On the season, he holds a cringe-inducing 5.14 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and a 49/35 K/BB ratio over 63 innings.
