Kodai Senga limited the Pirates to an unearned run and two hits over seven innings in the Mets' 5-1 victory Saturday.

Jun 10   9:22 PM

This was one unearned run that truly wasn't the pitcher's fault at all, as it took two errors to produce the lone run in the fourth. It's the third time this season that Senga has allowed zero earned runs. He improved to 6-3 with a 3.34 ERA.

Angels selected the contract of RHP Gerardo Reyes from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Jun 10   8:40 PM

The right-hander will be taking the place of the injured Ben Joyce in the Angels' bullpen. The 30-year-old hurler hasn't been very sharp at Triple-A Salt Lake this season -- registering a 4.64 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and a 32/11 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings in his 19 appearances. He'll provide the Angels with a fresh arm to work in the middle innings.

Angels placed RHP Ben Joyce on the 15-day injured list with ulnar neuritis.

Jun 10   8:40 PM

The flame-throwing right-hander was pulled from Friday's game due to a tingling sensation in his right hand and forearm. He's currently undergoing an MRI exam -- the results of which should be known on Saturday evening. Gerardo Reyes had his contract selected from Triple-A Salt Lake to take his place in the Angels' bullpen.

Angels transferred C Max Stassi to the 60-day injured list.

Jun 10   8:40 PM

Nothing has changed in Stassi's prognosis -- there's still no clear timetable for his return as he deals with a family situation -- this was merely done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the club's 40-man roster for Gerardo Reyes on Saturday. Stassi continues to work out and participate in baseball activities.

Matt Moore (oblique) resumed throwing on Saturday.

Jun 10   8:23 PM

The 33-year-old southpaw has been shut down since May 28 due to a right oblique strain. It's encouraging to hear that he's already playing catch again though, and could soon progress to throwing off of a mound. There's still no clear timetable for a potential return to the Angels' bullpen, but this is at least a small step in that direction.

Mariners' manager Scott Servais told reporters on Saturday that Bryce Miller's next start will be pushed back a day to Monday.

Jun 10   8:23 PM

The M's want to give the rookie right-hander an extra day of rest in-between starts after he was knocked around the yard in each of his last two outings. Logan Gilbert will start in his place on Sunday against the Angels on his regular rest.

Angels activated OF Hunter Renfroe from the paternity leave list.

Jun 10   7:18 PM

Renfroe had been away from the club since Wednesday. He returns to a .252/.302/.451 slash line with 11 homers and 30 RBI through his first 245 plate appearances on the season. Jo Adell was sent back to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move on Saturday.

Angels optioned OF Jo Adell to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Jun 10   7:18 PM

The 24-year-old slugger went 1-for-3 with a gargantuan home run during his brief time with the Angels. He'll go back to mashing Triple-A pitching until the Angels feel he's worthy of an extended opportunity.

Lane Thomas tripled, doubled and drove in two runs against the Braves in Saturday's loss.

Jun 10   7:18 PM

It was a nice game for Thomas, but he was still outshone by his counterpart in right field and the leadoff spot. Thomas is batting .284/.337/.465, giving him an OPS nearly 100 points higher than where he finished 2022 (.802 to .705). It's too bad he's not a better defensive outfielder in spite of his speed, but that's a minor issue while he's hitting like this.

MacKenzie Gore surrendered five runs in five innings Saturday in a loss to the Braves.

Jun 10   7:18 PM

Gore averaged 93.9 mph with his fastball today, a new season low for him. He was at 95.8-95.9 mph in three straight starts last month before dropping to 94.9 mph last time out and losing another one mph today. It could be a bad sign. The loss today leaves Gore 3-5 with a 4.04 ERA. He hasn't won since Apr. 26, though that's hardly all his fault.

A.J. Minter picked up his nine save despite giving up a solo homer in the ninth Saturday against the Nationals.

Jun 10   7:18 PM

Stone Garrett hit the homer. Minter was closing today because Raisel Iglesias had pitched the last two days. It's been quite the productive week for both of the Braves' late-game relievers; since Sunday, Iglesias has a win and three saves and Minter has a win and two saves.

Jared Shuster allowed three runs and eight hits over five innings Saturday in a win over the Nationals.

Jun 10   7:18 PM

Shuster got the win without the benefit of a strikeout. He's the fifth starter to pull that off this year, joining Noah Syndergaard, Miles Mikolas, Zach Eflin and Julio Teheran. For the year, Shuster has 21 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings. He's definitely looked better since returning from Triple-A last month, but as a modest flyball pitcher, he's going to need to miss more bats if he's going to prove useful.

Ronald Acuña Jr. homered, doubled twice and knocked in three runs Saturday as the Braves topped the Nationals 6-4.

Jun 10   7:18 PM

It's easy to see why Acuña is the overwhelming favorite to bring home NL MVP honors this season. He's second in the league in OPS and runs, third in average and way out in front with his 28 stolen bases. With 13 longballs, he'll have to pick up the pace some there in order to pull off a 40-40 season. However, he could fall a little short there and still rate as the NL's best player.

Gio Urshela (back) returned to the Angels' starting lineup on Saturday.

Jun 10   7:18 PM

Urshela was a late scratch from Friday's lineup due to tightness in his lower back, but it appears to have been only a minor issue. He's in there at first base and batting eighth against Bryan Woo and the Mariners on Saturday evening in Los Angeles.

Giants activated C Joey Bart from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento.

Jun 10   6:15 PM

With rookie backstop Patrick Bailey swinging a hot bat for the Giants, there's no reason to rush Bart into action -- especially given how poorly he has performed at the plate this season. Bart will continue to work through his issues at the Triple-A level. The 26-year-old has hit .231/.286/.295 with zero homers and four RBI in 84 plate appearances with the big league club this season.

Adam Cimber was torched for six runs in the eighth inning and saddled with a loss on Saturday against the Twins.

Jun 10   6:15 PM

Yikes. It was an absolute nightmare outing for Cimber, who loaded the bases before giving up a go-ahead grand slam to Carlos Correa. He was pulled after allowing two additional batters to reach and was forced to watch them cross the plate when Mitch White coughed up a homer to ensuing batter Max Kepler. The disastrous outing took his full-season ERA from 3.93 to 6.75 in the process.

Max Kepler went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer on Saturday in the Twins' victory over the Blue Jays.

Jun 10   6:15 PM

Kepler capped off the Twins' seven-run outburst in the eighth inning with a three-run shot to right-center field off reliever Mitch White. It was his seventh long ball of the season and first time he's gone deep since returning from the injured list back on May 29.

Jarren Duran is not in the Red Sox' starting lineup for the second consecutive night on Saturday.

Jun 10   6:15 PM

Even with a right-hander on the mound, Duran finds himself situated on the bench on Saturday night. It appears as though the return of Adam Duvall to be the team's primary center fielder is going to strip away any mixed league fantasy value that Duran has been holding onto. He has been in a massive slump at the plate over the past few weeks and may be better suited playing everyday at Triple-A instead of sporadically with the big league club.

Kyle Freeland allowed one run over five innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Padres.

Jun 10   6:15 PM

Freeland limited the Padres to just an RBI single by Gary Sánchez in the opening frame. He finished with five strikeouts and also issued a pair of walks. He'll bring a respectable 3.91 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 49/19 K/BB ratio across 76 innings (14 starts) into a challenging road tilt on Thursday against the Braves.

Ryan Weathers gave up one run over three innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Rockies.

Jun 10   6:15 PM

Weathers was pulled after throwing 43 pitches (25 strikes) over three frames. A solo homer by Nolan Jones accounted for all of the damage against him. He notched two strikeouts and didn't hand out a free pass. He'll bring a lackluster 4.93 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 25/15 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings (10 appearances, eight starts) into a tough home matchup on Friday against the Rays.
