Rays optioned RHP Luis Patiño to Triple-A Durham.

Jun 10   1:29 PM

Patiño allowed two runs over two innings on Friday in his season debut against the Rangers and has already been jettisoned back to the minors. The 23-year-old former top prospect has been shifted to relief full-time and figures to get another look with Tampa Bay at some point this summer.

Rays selected the contract of LHP José Lopez from Triple-A Durham.

Jun 10   1:29 PM

Lopez was picked up by the Padres in the Rule 5 Draft last December, but wound up being returned to Tampa Bay at the conclusion of spring training. The 24-year-old left-hander has earned his first call up to the majors after posting a pedestrian 5.19 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 27/13 K/BB ratio across 26 innings (23 appearances, one start) this season for Triple-A Durham.

Royals activated OF Edward Olivares from the restricted list.

Jun 10   1:29 PM

Olivares wound up only missing Friday's series opener against the Orioles while attending to a personal matter.

Dodgers placed RHP Shelby Miller on the bereavement list.

Jun 10   1:29 PM

Miller will be away from the club for the next few days. It'll be Andre Jackson coming up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take his spot in the Dodgers' bullpen.

Dodgers recalled RHP Andre Jackson from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Jun 10   1:29 PM

Jackson has made six relief appearances this season for the Dodgers and gets the call back to the majors ahead of Saturday's game against the Phillies with Shelby Miller heading to the bereavement list.

Dominic Smith is not in the Nationals' lineup for Saturday's game against the Braves.

Jun 10   1:29 PM

It's Smith's first day off since April 27. It'll be Michael Chavis filling in at first base on Saturday afternoon with lefty Jared Shuster on the mound for Atlanta.

Royce Lewis is not in the Twins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Jun 10   12:54 PM

It appears to be a scheduled off day for Lewis, who went 4-for-4 during Friday's series opener against the Blue Jays, with utility specialist Willi Castro taking over at third base. The 24-year-old infielder has made a significant impact for the Twins since returning from the injured list, batting .270 (10-for-37) with two homers and seven RBI in nine games.

Padres optioned RHP Domingo Tapia to Triple-A El Paso.

Tapia has been shipped back to the minors with right-hander Luis García returning to San Diego's relief mix ahead of Saturday's showdown at Coors Field against the Rockies. The hard-throwing 31-year-old righty has posted a strong 2.60 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 14/12 K/BB ratio across 17 1/3 innings (14 appearances) this season.

Padres activated RHP Luis García from the 15-day injured list.

Jun 10   12:36 PM

García rejoins San Diego's high-leverage relief mix for Saturday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field following a two-week absence due to a left oblique strain. The 36-year-old righty holds an underwhelming 4.66 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 20/9 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings (21 appearances) this season.

Charlie Blackmon is not in the Rockies' lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres.

Jun 10   12:20 PM

It's a routine off day for Blackmon, who has started seven of nine games since returning from the bereavement list earlier this month. It'll be Randal Grichuk getting a day at designated hitter and rookie Brenton Doyle taking over in center field to face Padres left-hander Ryan Weathers.

Vargas gets the day off with Mookie Betts at second base on Saturday afternoon against the Phillies.

Yuli Gurriel is at first base and batting fifth on Saturday against the White Sox.

Jun 10   12:20 PM

Gurriel has ostensibly overtaken Garrett Cooper as Miami's primary first baseman over the last few weeks, slashing .290/.367/.420 with two stolen bases across 19 games over the last month.

Kevin Kiermaier (wrist) remains absent from the Blue Jays' lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Jun 10   12:04 PM

Kiermaier was able to pinch-run during Friday's series opener, but is likely still dealing with some swelling in his left wrist after being hit by a pitch earlier this week. There's a chance he's back sometime this weekend and he appears likely to avoid a trip to the injured list.

Twins recalled 2B Edouard Julien from Triple-A St. Paul.

Jun 10   12:04 PM

Julien gets the call back to the majors with veteran second baseman Jorge Polanco landing back on the injured list with a left hamstring strain. The 24-year-old rookie has hit .210 (13-for-62) with four homers and eight RBI across 19 games this season at the big league level.

Eddie Rosario is not in the Braves' lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Tigers recalled INF/OF Nick Solak from Triple-A Toledo.

Jun 10   10:59 AM

Solak was just claimed off waivers from the Braves on Friday and likely didn't even have time to drive to Toledo yet. The 28-year-old offers plenty of defensive versatility, but hasn't hit well enough in the big leagues over the last few years to carve out even a part-time role. He'll likely be up for a few weeks until Akil Baddoo (quad) is ready to return from the injured list.

Trevor Richards will serve as the Blue Jays' opener for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Jun 10   10:43 AM

It'll most likely be Bowden Francis making a bulk relief appearance in this one as well. There's too much risk here for fantasy managers to consider streaming Francis, but it sounds like he's going to get an opportunity to fill Alek Manoah's vacated spot in Toronto's starting rotation for now.
