Julio Urías (hamstring) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday.
Urías is expected to make a minor league rehab start in the coming days before returning to Los Angeles' starting rotation. The 26-year-old southpaw was hoping to return last weekend, but those hopes were scuttled when he experienced some left hamstring discomfort while throwing a bullpen session.
Bobby Miller will start on Saturday against the Giants.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Wednesday that he doesn't anticipate Miller having any sort of innings limit this season. It'll be a bullpen game on Friday against the Giants before Miller takes the ball on Saturday night in Los Angeles. The hard-throwing 24-year-old top prospect has compiled a microscopic 0.78 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 23/7 K/BB ratio across 23 innings (four starts) at the outset of his big league career.
Michael Lorenzen was shelled for six runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Braves.
Lorenzen drew the starting assignment for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Braves and wound up serving up nine hits, including three home runs.
Dylan Dodd was lit up for five runs over four innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Tigers.
A.J. Minter recorded a one-out save in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
Minter got the call to protect a one-run lead in the nightcap of Wednesday's twin bill against the Tigers after Raisel Iglesias threw 31 pitches in the opening contest. He struck out Eric Haas to preserve the victory and pick up his 10th save of the season.
Collin McHugh fired three perfect innings to pick up a win in relief during the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
McHugh saved the Braves' overworked bullpen with a herculean effort, striking out four of the 12 batters he faced, needing just 44 pitches (29 strikes) to complete three frames. The rest of Atlanta's pitching staff should probably treat him to a steak dinner on their way back to Atlanta.
Matt Vierling hit a solo homer in the Tigers' loss to the Braves in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader.
Vierling supplied one of Detroit's three homers in the contest, but it wasn't enough as their bats suddenly went ice-cold, failing to record a hit over the final five frames. The 26-year-old lefty-masher took southpaw Dylan Dodd deep in the fourth inning for his fifth long ball of the season.
Twins optioned OF Trevor Larnach to Triple-A St. Paul.
Larnach has been sent down following Wednesday's series finale against the Brewers, which means the Twins will have a roster move ahead of Thursday's series opener against the division-rival Tigers. The 26-year-old has a .689 OPS with six homers and one steal across 46 games this season in the majors.
White Sox sent OF Billy Hamilton outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Hamilton has wrapped up a minor league rehab assignment and will remain at Triple-A Charlotte, unless he chooses to elect free agency instead of accepting the outright assignment. The 32-year-old speedster has gotten into three games this season in the majors for Chicago.
Phillies released RHP Jake Jewell.
Jewell signed a minor league contract with the Phillies back in January. The 30-year-old righty posted an inflated 7.66 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 26/14 K/BB ratio across 24 2/3 innings (22 appearances, six starts) this season for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He last appeared in the majors during the 2021 campaign.
Dodgers designated LHP Adam Kolarek for assignment.
Kolarek has been removed from the Dodgers' 40-man roster ahead of Tuesday's game against the White Sox with Shelby Miller returning from the bereavement list. The 34-year-old southpaw wound up tossing 1 1/3 scoreless innings in his lone relief appearance for Los Angeles.
Dodgers activated RHP Shelby Miller from the bereavement leave list.
Miller will be available out of the Dodgers' bullpen for Wednesday's contest against the White Sox after a few days away from the club. The 32-year-old righty holds a sparkling 2.57 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 29/17 K/BB ratio across 28 innings (24 appearances) this season in his Los Angeles debut.
Yu Darvish will have his next start pushed back to Friday.
The Padres want to give Darvish an extra day of rest, so he's been bumped back to Friday's series opener against the Rays. It'll be southpaw Ryan Weathers taking the ball for Thursday's series finale against the Guardians.
Alec Bohm is not in the Phillies' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
It appears to be a routine off day for Bohm with Edmundo Sosa at third base on Wednesday evening in Arizona.
Austin Barnes (hand) has returned to the Dodgers' lineup for Wednesday's contest against the White Sox.
Barnes is back catching Clayton Kershaw for his first appearance since being hit by a pitch on the right hand last Thursday against the Reds.
Yoán Moncada is not in the White Sox' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
It'll be Jake Burger taking over at the hot corner to face legendary southpaw Clayton Kershaw on Wednesday evening at Dodger Stadium.
Joey Wendle (groin) remains out of the Marlins' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Wendle will sit out his third straight game on Wednesday evening due to a left groin strain. He's yet to land on the injured list, so there's some optimism that he'll be ready to return later this week.
Spencer Strider gave up five runs and three homers in five innings Wednesday in a win over the Tigers.
Strider surrendered three homers for the first time as a major leaguer. One was the first hit by Miguel Cabrera this year. Incredibly, he's given up as many homers (10) in his last 32 innings as he did in his first 180 2/3 innings as a major leaguer. Still, Strider looked quite good after the second inning today. He got 17 missed swings, and his velocity was fine. The league has done a better job of jumping on his fastball recently, but even if that means Strider won't go back to performing like he did in 2022, he still figures to be plenty good.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone didn't provide an update on Aaron Judge (toe) on Wednesday.
It's possible that no news is good news, but the Yankees have opted against pinning down a specific return timetable for Judge due to the nature of the right big toe sprain that he suffered earlier this month. Fantasy managers should expect him to miss at least a few weeks and it's not impossible that he could wind up being out until the All-Star break.
Gio Urshela (back) remains absent from the Angels' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
Urshela has played in just one contest since being scratched from last Friday's lineup due to a back issue. It sounds like the Angels are merely proceeding with an abundance of caution and don't want to risk rushing him back too soon.
