Luis Urías hit his first homer Wednesday in the loss to the Twins.
Brian Anderson and Urías went back-to-back off Bailey Ober in the second, but those turned out to be the Twins' only runs of the game. Urias is just 2-for-21 since coming off the IL, but at least that does come with four walks and three hit by pitches. The Brewers will keep playing him pretty regularly.
Bailey Ober pitched six innings of two-run ball Wednesday in the Twins' 4-2 win over the Brewers.
The runs scored on back-to-back homers in the second. Ober struck out seven in moving to 4-3 with a 2.65 ERA. Because of brutal run support, he hadn't won since May 16. The Twins have totaled 25 runs in the 10 games in which he's pitched this season.
Colin Rea lost to the Twins after allowing four runs in five innings on Wednesday.
Rea, now 3-4 with a 4.71 ERA, might have been making his last start for a spell, as the Brewers are set to activate Wade Miley this weekend. Julio Teheran is going to keep his spot, so it'll be up to whether the team would prefer Rea or Adrian Houser as the fifth starter.
Carlos Correa contributed a two-run triple and a walk against the Brewers in Wednesday's win.
Correa's last five hits have all gone for extra bases; he had two homers and two doubles in the Twins' previous three games. His OPS is up to .728. The only time he's finished a game with a better mark this year was two months ago on Apr. 14.
Owen Miller went 0-for-4 as the Brewers' cleanup man Wednesday against the Twins.
It's one thing for the Brewers to keep playing Miller, but he shouldn't be batting fourth against a right-hander after cooling off in recent weeks. He's hitting .231/.259/.250 in 54 plate appearances during June.
Orioles designated C Mark Kolozsvary for assignment.
Kolozsvary was up with the Orioles for just one contest before being shipped back to Triple-A Norfolk and ultimately removed from their 40-man roster ahead of Wednesday's contest against the Blue Jays.
Orioles placed RHP Austin Voth on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort.
Not good. Voth figures to miss a significant chunk of time as elbow discomfort is typically a precursor to a significant injury. The 30-year-old righty has recorded a respectable 4.94 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 31/14 K/BB ratio across 31 innings (23 appearances) this season.
Orioles selected the contract of RHP Reed Garrett from Triple-A Norfolk.
Garrett has yet to pitch in the majors this season after signing a minor league contract with the Orioles back in January. The 30-year-old righty made seven relief appearances last year for the Nationals and will likely operate in middle relief.
Mark Vientos is at first base and batting ninth for Wednesday's Subway Series finale against the Yankees.
Vientos and Mark Canha have split the six games at first base for the Mets since Pete Alonso suffered a left wrist sprain and bone bruise, which is expected to keep him sidelined for at least 3-4 weeks. The 23-year-old rookie slugger is batting .167 (7-for-42) with one homer and five RBI in 15 games this season in the majors.
Elieser Hernández (shoulder) has been pulled off a minor league rehab assignment due to side discomfort.
Hernández has been on the shelf all season working his way back from a right shoulder strain and made a rehab start a couple weeks ago for Single-A St. Lucie. He was able to throw off flat ground on Wednesday, but there is no timetable for his return at the moment.
Orioles optioned C Mark Kolozsvary to Triple-A Norfolk.
Kolozsvary was just called up Tuesday, and he caught the final inning of his one game on the roster. He'll remain on the 40-man for now, but that might not last.
Orioles recalled INF Joey Ortiz from Triple-A Norfolk.
Still no Jordan Westburg, though that's not surprising with the way other infielders have stepped up of late; there wouldn't be much playing time available for him at the moment. Ortiz hit .259/.250/.296 over 28 plate appearances in his first two stints with the Orioles this season. He'll serve as a utilityman for now.
Jorge Mateo is on the bench Wednesday for the second time in three games.
On the whole, Mateo has been at least an average regular this year. However, all of his offensive success came in April, and he's batting just .152/.186/.179 since the beginning of May. He'll continue to do a lot of sitting as long as Gunnar Henderson, Adam Frazier and Ramón Urías are all healthy.
Rays optioned LHP Jalen Beeks to Triple-A Durham.
Beeks has been better than his 5.82 ERA suggests, but he still hasn't been very good with his strikeout rate down significantly from last year. He'll work on things in Triple-A for a bit.
Rays activated RHP Zack Littell from the 15-day injured list.
Littell allowed three runs in 3 1/3 innings in his four appearances for the Rays before going on the IL with shoulder fatigue. He'll rejoin the pen.
Jesse Chavez left Wednesday's game in the sixth inning after being hit in the left leg by a comebacker.
It turned into a rare infield single for Miguel Cabrera. Chavez was in considerable pain and wasn't putting any weight on the leg as he came off the field, so this may be more than a day-to-day situation.
Rule 5 pick Noah Song (back) threw two innings in a simulated game Tuesday.
He'll do the same on Thursday and then could officially begin a rehab assignment. Once that happens, he'll likely spend a full month in the minors before the Phillies decide whether to stick him in their pen or place him on waivers. Song has been on the IL since the start of the year with a lower back strain.
Ian Happ said on the Bernstein & Holmes Show that he thinks he'll be ready to play Wednesday.
Happ left Tuesday's game with a mild calf issue. If the Cubs decide to give him the day off, Christopher Morel will likely start in left field.
Giants optioned RHP Keaton Winn to Triple-A Sacramento.
This means that J.D. Davis will avoid the injured list for now, though that could still be revisited Friday. Winn picked up a four-inning save in his major league debut Tuesday, so he wasn't going to be avaolable for a couple of days.
Alec Burleson is on the bench in a sixth straight game Wednesday versus the Giants.
Burleson homered in his most recent start, but that was a week ago now. Except for an apparent Nolan Gorman-Luken Baker platoon, the Cardinals have stopped mixing and matching for the most part and are going with a pretty set lineup with Jordan Walker and Dylan Carlson back. As a result, Burleson has been limited to two pinch-hitting appearances in six days.
