Cristian Pache (knee) went 2-for-4 and homered Tuesday in his rehab appearance with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Jun 14   10:39 AM

Pache was 0-for-19 on his rehab assignment before coming through yesterday. He'll probably remain in Triple-A for the rest of the week and then take Dalton Guthrie's spot on Philadelphia's bench.

Carlos Estévez recorded a two-out save on Tuesday against the Rangers.

Jun 14   10:39 AM

Estévez was summoned to record the final two outs of the ninth inning with the Angels leading by four runs at the time and wound up retiring Adolis García and striking out Josh Jung to end the contest. The 30-year-old righty has converted all 18 of his save opportunities this season in his Los Angeles debut.

Josh Hader recorded three strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday against the Guardians to record his 16th save of the season.

Jun 14   10:39 AM

Hader got the call to guard a three-run lead in the ninth inning and needed only 18 pitches (14 strikes) to get the job done. He struck out Gabriel Arias and Myles Straw to open the frame before giving up a two-out single to David Fry. He rebounded quickly by fanning Steven Kwan to preserve the win.

Oscar Colás homered and doubled twice for Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Jun 14   10:16 AM

Demoted to Triple-A at the beginning of May, Colás started off hot for Charlotte, slumped in the second half of the month and now is picking it back up again in June; he's batting .306/.375/.472 in nine games this month. He'll be in the mix for a callup next time the White Sox need an outfielder.

Nick Senzel (knee) went 2-for-3 for Triple-A Louisville's third baseman on Tuesday.

Jun 14   10:16 AM

Louisville had Senzel, Joey Votto and Wil Myers as their top three hitters and wound up losing by 11 runs. Senzel should come off the IL later this week, but he'll be looking at more outfield time with Elly De La Cruz up.

Chris Williams hit three homers and drove in seven runs for Triple-A St. Paul against Louisville on Tuesday.

Jun 14   10:16 AM

The 26-year-old Williams had an .843 OPS between Double- and Triple-A last year and he's at .940 with 10 homers in 40 games in Triple-A this season. If he keeps it up, he might eventually get a look in a bench role against lefties. It helps his case that he's a legit option as a third catcher.

Victor Robles (back) went 3-for-4 with two homers and a walk for Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Jun 14   10:16 AM

The Nationals could have activated Robles yesterday, but they didn't think his bat was ready after he went hitless in his first two rehab games. He'll soon step back in as their starting center fielder, which will likely shift Alex Call to a bench role.

Red Sox prospect Wilyer Abreu, on the shelf with a strained right hamstring, could be back in 1-2 weeks.

Jun 14   9:54 AM

Abreu strained his other hamstring in March and missed the start of the season, though he returned Apr. 11 and hit .264/.379/.479 in 40 games with Triple-A Worcester. He's missed two weeks due to the current injury.

Christian Walker finished 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI against the Phillies on Tuesday.

Jun 14   3:05 AM

Walker had half of Arizona's knocks tonight in his first four-hit game of the season. He came into this one at .219/.301/.344 in his previous 17 games.

Luis Ortiz got his first career save after allowing two runs over three innings Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Jun 14   3:05 AM

It came in a 15-3 game. Ortiz debuted with the Orioles in 2018, but he had just nine career appearances in the majors through the end of 2022. He's equaled that total in a couple of stints with the Phillies this year, allowing five runs over 13 innings.

Zack Wheeler held the Diamondbacks to one run over six innings and struck out seven in the Phillies' 15-3 victory Tuesday.

Jun 14   3:05 AM

Wheeler wasn't quite at his best tonight, but he finally had some luck on his side in winning for the second time in eight starts and fifth time this season. He'll take a 3.73 ERA into his next start against the A's.

Bryson Stott went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Jun 14   3:05 AM

He also swiped a base. Stott is less interesting for fantasy purposes now that he's no longer leading off for the Phillies, but he still has a nice .300/.342/.419 line with six homers and 10 steals for the season. There's also always the chance that he could resume leading off against righties at some point.

Trea Turner had two hits, two walks, two steals and two runs scored Tuesday in the rout of the Diamondbacks.

Jun 14   3:05 AM

Turner is hitting .313/.377/.500 with two homers and four steals in 12 games this month. It's already as many steals as he had in April and one more than he finished with in May.

Edward Cabrera gave up five runs in four innings versus the Mariners on Tuesday.

Jun 14   2:45 AM

Cabrera gave up homers in the second and fourth innings tonight, and both came after leadoff walks. Because of his control difficulties, he remains a tough guy to trust, especially against offenses with any patience at all. He's 5-5 with a 4.20 ERA.

Luis Arraez went 0-for-5 versus the Mariners in Tuesday's loss.

Jun 14   2:45 AM

While it's fun to dream about, .400 just isn't happening. After all the work Arraez did recently to get his average up to .402, going 1-for-14 the last three games has quickly pushed him back down to .382. .400 is simply too much to ask for these days. Except for the short 2020, no one has hit even .350 since Josh Hamilton came in at .359 in 2010.

Mike Ford went 3-for-4 with two homers and three RBI versus the Marlins on Tuesday.

Jun 14   2:29 AM

It's Ford's second two-homer game as a major leaguer; the other came against the Mariners when he played for the Yankees in 2019. Ford has always had difficulty translating his minor league production into major league success, but he's currently 6-for-22 with four homers for Seattle. He should continue to start against right-handers for the foreseeable future.

J.P. Crawford went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts from the leadoff spot Tuesday against the Marlins.

Jun 14   2:29 AM

Crawford remained in the game after rolling his right ankle pretty good during an at-bat, but he wound up having a tough night. He's batting .227/.306/.273 over the last 15 days.

James Outman fanned all three times up Tuesday against the White Sox.

Jun 14   2:13 AM

Unfortunately, Outman is living up to his name lately; he's hit .167.281/.281 in 114 plate appearances since the beginning of May. A demotion to Triple-A soon could be a possibility, with Jonny Deluca and Jason Heyward taking his at-bats.

Lance Lynn surrendered five runs -- four earned -- in five-plus innings Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Jun 14   2:13 AM

Will Smith and David Peralta hit two-run homer off him in the first. Lynn went on to pitch scoreless ball over the next four innings, but he gave up a single and a walk to start the sixth and was pulled. Fortunately, he was charged with just an unearned run in that inning, as Garrett Crochet did excellent work after replacing him. Lynn's ERA is back up to 6.75, and it's significantly higher when he's not facing weak competition in the AL Central. While he can't be completely written off, there wouldn't seem to be enough upside here to make him worth holding on to in mixed leagues.

Tony Gonsolin blanked the White Sox for six innings in the Dodgers' 5-1 victory Tuesday.

Jun 14   2:13 AM

Gonsolin allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out six in moving to 4-1 with a 1.93 ERA. He doesn't look as good right now as he did during the first half of last season, but perhaps the slighter workload after he missed most of April with an ankle injury will help him hold up this time around.
