Kenta Maeda (triceps) will make another minor league rehab start at Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Jun 13   5:21 PM

The right-hander stretched out to 45 pitches in Sunday's start, so expect that he'll get bumped up to around 60-65 pitches on Friday. He's still likely a couple of weeks away from a potential return to the Twins' rotation.

Cubs placed LHP Brandon Hughes on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 11, with left knee inflammation.

Jun 13   4:53 PM

No word yet on the severity of the injury -- or how long exactly Hughes is expected to be sidelined. Between stints on the injured list he has really struggled out of the Cubs' bullpen this season -- posting a 7.24 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and a 17/8 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings in his 17 appearances. Miles Mastrobuoni was recalled from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move on Tuesday.

Cubs recalled INF/OF Miles Mastrobuoni from Triple-A Iowa.

Jun 13   4:53 PM

Mastrobuoni was just sent down to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, but he'll return with Brandon Hughes (knee) landing on the injured list prior to Tuesday's ballgame. Rangers optioned LHP Cole Ragans to Triple-A Round Rock.

Jun 13   4:53 PM

The Rangers needed to do some shuffling with their pitching staff to get some fresh arms for Tuesday's game against the Angels, and Ragans was unfortunately one of the roster casualties on Tuesday. The 25-year-old southpaw has registered a 5.92 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 24/14 K/BB ratio over 24 1/3 innings with the Rangers this season. He'll bide his time at Triple-A until he's called upon once again.

Rangers optioned RHP Yerry Rodríguez to Triple-A Round Rock.

Jun 13   4:53 PM

With Cody Bradford and Owen White each joining the big league roster on Tuesday, someone needed to go to make room in the Rangers' bullpen and Rodríguez drew one of the short straws this time around. The 25-year-old hurler has compiled a 3.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 3/2 K/BB ratio over 5 1/3 innings with the Rangers this season. It shouldn't be long before he gets another opportunity to work out of the big league bullpen.

Brandon Drury was handed a one-game suspension for arguing balls and strikes and making contact with home plate umpire Ramon De Jesus on Monday night.

Jun 13   4:53 PM

Drury is appealing the suspension, so he is eligible to play on Tuesday. Ultimately, he's likely to serve the one-game ban later this week when he would have had an off-day anyways, so it shouldn't impact much from a fantasy perspective. On the season, the hard-hitting second baseman is slashing .252/.298/.473 with 10 homers and 30 RBI.

Harrison Bader (hamstring) will play in a minor league rehab game with Double-A Somerset on Wednesday.

Jun 13   4:53 PM

If all goes well there, Bader is expected to be cleared to return to the Yankees' lineup for their weekend series against the Red Sox. The dynamic 29-year-old has hit .267/.295/.511 with six homers, 19 RBI and six stolen bases in 95 plate appearances with the Yankees so far this season.

Casey Schmitt is stationed on the Giants' bench once again for Tuesday's ballgame against the Cardinals.

Jun 13   4:53 PM

Over his last 13 ballgames he's hitting just .178/.208/.267 with zero homers, five RBI and a 10/1 K/BB ratio in 48 plate appearances. Jun 13   4:24 PM

Manning tossed 1 2/3 innings Sunday for Triple-A Toledo in his first rehab outing and will make another start later this week. The 25-year-old righty, who has been on the shelf since early April due to a fractured right foot, figures to return to the Tigers' starting rotation in a few weeks.

Dillon Tate (forearm) will resume a minor league rehab assignment this week.

Jun 13   4:24 PM

Tate was shut down from throwing back in late May after suffering a stress reaction in his right elbow, but is feeling ready to get back into minor league games this week.

Michael Massey is not in the Royals' starting lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Reds.

Jun 13   4:24 PM

Despite the fact that he doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs on Monday night, Massey will find himself riding the pine in favor of Matt Duffy for Tuesday's showdown against left-hander Brandon Williamson and the Reds. He's had a rough go at the plate overall this season, slashing just .222/.274/.322 with four homers, 20 RBI and three stolen bases in 197 plate appearances.

Josh Donaldson is not in the Yankees' starting lineup for Tuesday's tilt against the Mets.

Jun 13   4:24 PM

The Yankees continue to ease Donaldson back into action with plenty of off days, and given his extensive injury history that's really not a terrible idea. DJ LeMahieu will cover third base and bat fifth against Max Scherzer and the Mets on Tuesday evening at Citi Field.

José Urquidy (shoulder) was able to play catch again without issue on Tuesday -- increasing his distance to 105 feet.

Jun 13   4:24 PM

Urquidy also noted to reporters that he was able to throw his changeup during Tuesday's throwing session off of flat ground. He feels like he is a week or so away from beginning mound work. The right-hander has been shelved since the start of May due to discomfort in his throwing shoulder. He's expected to be ready to rejoin the Astros' rotation at some point around the All-Star break.

Mychal Givens (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Double-A Bowie on Wednesday.

Jun 13   4:24 PM

He'll pitch in that game and then join Triple-A Norfolk for Friday's contest. After a couple of outings in his rehab assignment, he's expected to be cleared to return to the Orioles' bullpen. Givens -- who has been sidelined since May 21 due to inflammation in his pitching shoulder -- had registered an 11.25 ERA, 2.50 WHIP and a 2/6 K/BB ratio in four innings before landing on the injured list.

Cody Bellinger (knee) will play in a minor league rehab game on Tuesday for Triple-A Iowa.

Jun 13   3:39 PM

Bellinger spent last week out in Arizona ramping up baseball activities and will get in at least a couple minor league contests this week before returning to Chicago's lineup. He's been out since mid-May recovering from a left knee contusion.

Phillies signed RHP Jake Thompson to a minor league contract.

Jun 13   3:39 PM

Thompson hasn't appeared in the majors since the 2018 campaign and will get another shot with the Phillies. The 29-year-old journeyman spent three seasons with Philadelphia last decade and will serve as extra organizational pitching depth.

Enrique Hernández is not in the Red Sox' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Jun 13   3:39 PM

Hernández has been an unmitigated disaster this season at shortstop defensively, but the Red Sox don't exactly have any superior alternatives at the spot until Trevor Story (elbow) is ready to return to the position at some point in August. It'll be light-hitting utility infielder Pablo Reyes at shortstop on Tuesday evening at Fenway Park.
