Tigers optioned INF/OF Nick Solak to Triple-A Toledo.

Jun 12   3:22 PM

Solak got into one game for the Tigers over the weekend after outfielder Akil Baddoo landed on the injured list, but has been shipped out with lefty-masher Matt Vierling returning ahead of Monday's series opener agains the Braves. He'll head back to Triple-A Toledo as extra organizational depth.

Royals designated OF Jackie Bradley Jr. for assignment.

Jun 12   3:22 PM

Bradley Jr.'s time in Kansas City is over after posting a miserable .375 OPS across 43 games this season. The 33-year-old outfielder is merely a defensive specialist at this stage of his career.

Masataka Yoshida is absent from the Red Sox' lineup for Monday's series opener against the Rockies.

Jun 12   3:22 PM

It appears to be a routine day off for Yoshida, who has been in a bit of a mini-slump over the last week, batting .200 (5-for-25) with one extra-base hit and zero RBI over his last six games. It'll be Jarren Duran in left field on Monday evening against the Rockies at Fenway Park.

Adam Duvall is in center field and batting fifth on Monday against the Rockies.

Jun 12   3:22 PM

Duvall returns to Boston's lineup for Monday's series opener against Colorado at Fenway Park. The 34-year-old slugger came off the bench during Sunday's win over the Yankees and has collected one hit in six at-bats over three games since returning last Friday from the injured list.

Alex Faedo (finger) progressed to light tossing on Monday.

Jun 12   3:22 PM

Faedo has been on the shelf, and ostensibly shut down from any baseball activities, since last week when a specialist removed part of his right middle fingernail, which had been causing blisters. There is no timetable for his return yet, but it sounds like he's going to be out for at least a few additional weeks.

Tim Healey of Newsday reports the Mets are promoting RHP prospect Mike Vasil to Triple-A Syracuse.

Jun 12   2:37 PM

Vasil is on the doorstep of the majors after posting an impressive 3.71 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 57/8 K/BB ratio across 51 innings (10 starts) for Double-A Binghamton. The 23-year-old righty was an eighth-round selection in the 2021 MLB Draft out of Virginia.

Elly De La Cruz is at third base and batting cleanup on Monday against the Royals.

Jun 12   2:37 PM

De La Cruz has gotten off to a sizzling-hot start at the dish, batting .364 (8-for-22) with three extra-base hits, four RBI and three stolen bases through six games to open his major league career. The electrifying 21-year-old top prospect have lived up to the astronomical hype and will square off against a Kansas City pitching staff, which has allowed the third-most runs in baseball this season, for three straight games to open the week.

Giants optioned RHP Tristan Beck to Triple-A Sacramento.

Jun 12   2:21 PM

Beck allowed one run over two innings on Sunday against the Cubs to pick up a win in relief and has compiled a strong 3.73 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 28/5 K/BB ratio across 31 1/3 innings (13 appearances) this season in the majors. The 26-year-old righty has been sent down to bring up a fresh bullpen arm, but should return in a couple weeks, if not sooner.

Pete Fairbanks (hip) will make a minor league rehab appearance on Monday for the Rays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate.

Jun 12   2:03 PM

There was some buzz that Fairbanks might be ready to return to the Rays' closing mix early this week, but it sounds like he's going to need a few additional rehab outings before that occurs. The 29-year-old righty received a PRP injection in his left hip earlier this month to deal with some inflammation. There's still a chance he's back sometime this week.

Cardinals recalled RHP Jake Woodford from Triple-A Memphis.

Jun 12   1:44 PM

Woodford will be available out of the Cardinals' bullpen for Monday's series opener against the Giants with closer Ryan Helsley (forearm) landing on the injured list. The 26-year-old righty holds an underwhelming 5.40 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 18/11 K/BB ratio across 30 innings (seven appearances, six starts).

Penn Murfee was removed from Sunday's relief appearance against the Angels after re-aggravating a right elbow flexor mass strain.

Jun 12   1:14 PM

Murfee will undergo an MRI on Monday after being forced to exit his return from the injured list over the weekend. There should be an update on his status soon, but it certainly sounds like he'll land on the injured list ahead of Monday's series opener against the Marlins.

Coco Montes went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer on Sunday in his major league debut against the Padres.

Jun 12   12:57 PM

Montes singled in his first career at-bat in the second inning before slugging a game-tying two-run shot off righty reliever Luis GarcĂa in the eighth inning for his first career round-tripper. The 26-year-old should get an opportunity to play at several infield spots for Colorado moving forward.

Rangers released RHP James Marvel.

Jun 12   12:57 PM

Marvel signed a minor league contract last month with the Rangers and compiled a lackluster 7.88 ERA, 2.13 WHIP and 15/12 K/BB ratio across 24 innings (six starts) for Triple-A Round Rock. The 29-year-old righty hasn't appeared in the majors since the 2019 season.

Royals signed INF Jermaine Palacios to a minor league contract.

Jun 12   12:19 PM

Palacios will head to Triple-A Omaha after being cut loosed by the division-rival Tigers last week. The 26-year-old infielder, who got into 30 games last year for the Twins, is hitting .176/.232/.352 with six homers and three steals across 138 plate appearances over 36 games this season at the Triple-A level.

Jordan Romano tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday against the Twins for his 18th save of the season.

Jun 12   11:52 AM

Romano was tasked with guarding a one-run advantage, and worked around a leadoff walk by Donovan Solano, getting through a scoreless frame on 16 pitches (eight strikes). He's converted 18 of his 21 save opportunities this season and is one of the better closers in the fantasy landscape.

Eric Lauer (shoulder) was lit up for seven runs (five earned) over two innings on Sunday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Nashville.

Jun 12   10:18 AM

Lauer was tagged for eight hits, including one homer, and also issued a pair of walks. It's not the type of outing that inspires confidence as the 28-year-old lefty is on the verge of returning to Milwaukee's starting rotation mix. It might make sense for him to return as a reliever, especially with Julio Teheran continuing to pitch well in his absence.

Matt Manning (foot) tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings on Sunday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Toledo.

Jun 12   10:18 AM

Manning has been out since early April when he fractured his right foot, but is getting close to returning to Detroit's starting rotation. The 25-year-old righty will presumably need a couple additional rehab outings to continue building up his pitch count and stamina, but he's trending towards a return prior to the All-Star break.

Danny Jansen (groin) went 3-for-5 with a run scored on Sunday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Buffalo.

Jun 12   10:18 AM

Jansen figures to be activated for Tuesday's series opener against the Orioles after going 4-for-8 with one homer and a pair of doubles in two rehab games for Triple-A Buffalo. He's been out since late May recovering from a left groin strain.

Victor Robles (back) went 0-for-3 with a walk on Sunday in a minor league rehab contest for Triple-A Rochester.

Jun 12   10:18 AM

There's a chance Robles could return to Washington's outfield mix for Tuesday's series opener against the Astros after he's re-evaluated early this week. The 26-year-old former top prospect has been on the shelf since early May with back spasms.

Padres re-signed RHP Jared Koenig to a minor league contract.

Jun 12   10:18 AM

Koenig wound up re-signing with the Padres on a new minor league pact shortly after opting out of his original deal with the club at the end of May. The 29-year-old southpaw made 10 appearances (five starts) last year for the Athletics and has yet to pitch in the majors this season. He's merely emergency organizational depth at this stage of his career.
